Ask Tyrone: Crypto Q&A with a 2010 Veteran

What’s good, London Community?

I’m Tyrone. Some of you already know me from the old forums and Telegram groups. For those who don’t — I’ve been in crypto since 2010, back when Bitcoin was pocket change and most people thought it was a phase. I’ve traded through every cycle since, worked as a consultant for projects across DeFi, NFTs, and layer-1s, and I’ve held positions large enough to move order books on smaller exchanges. I’m not here to shill anything or sell a course. I’m here because this community has always been about real talk, and I respect that.

I’ve seen a lot of nonsense posted online lately — people giving advice who clearly weren’t around for Mt. Gox, the DAO hack, or the 2018 bear market. So I’m opening this thread as a standing Q&A. Ask me anything about:
  • Market structure and whale behaviour — how big players actually think, not the Twitter fantasy version
  • On-chain analysis — what to look at, what’s noise, and what signals actually matter
  • Project evaluation — red flags in tokenomics, team structure, and vesting schedules
  • Security and custody — lessons from people who lost everything, including me in the early days
  • Trading psychology — why most people lose money even when they pick the right coin
  • Anything else crypto-related that’s been bugging you
A few ground rules so this stays useful for everyone:
  1. I won’t give specific price targets or tell you what to buy. That’s not how consulting works, and anyone who does that for free on a forum is either lying or reckless.
  2. I’ll be honest when I don’t know something. Crypto moves fast, and nobody knows everything.
  3. If you disagree with me, say so and bring your reasoning. I’d rather have a proper debate than an echo chamber.
  4. No DMs asking for “quick tips.” If it’s worth asking, it’s worth asking in public so others can learn too.
To get things started, here’s one thing I wish more people understood: the market doesn’t care about your entry price. I see too many traders anchoring to what they paid and making decisions based on being “in profit” or “at a loss.” That’s ego, not analysis. The market only cares about supply, demand, liquidity, and sentiment. Your cost basis is your problem, not the market’s.

So — what do you want to know? Whether you’re holding since 2013 or just bought your first sats last week, ask away. I’ll answer as many as I can, as directly as I can.

And if you’re new here: welcome. You’re early, even if it doesn’t feel like it. The real question is whether you’ll still be here in five years, or whether you’ll be one of the people who rage-quit during the next 40% drawdown.

Let’s talk. What’s on your mind?

Welcome! I'm glad you asked this here rather than in a DM — that's exactly what this thread is for. One thing worth noting from Tyrone's intro: he's explicit that he won't give price targets or tell anyone what to buy, so if that's what you're after, this isn't the place for it. What the thread does cover is broader: market structure and whale behaviour, on-chain analysis, project evaluation (tokenomics, team, vesting), security and custody, and trading psychology. If you're brand new, a good starting point is picking one of those areas and asking a specific question about it, rather than something open-ended like "what should I buy?" Also worth keeping in mind: anyone claiming guaranteed returns or asking for seed phrases or private keys is a red flag, here or anywhere. What's the one crypto topic you feel most lost on right now?
